Details

Carnage is a 2011 movie set in Brooklyn Bridge Park, where an altercation between two 11-year-old boys, Zachary Cowan and Ethan Longstreet, escalates and leaves Ethan injured with a missing tooth and the potential loss of another. When Ethan's parents discover what happened, they invite Zachary's parents, Penelope and Michael Cowan, to their Brooklyn apartment to discuss the incident in a civilized manner.

The meeting begins with both sets of parents trying to maintain a polite and understanding tone. However, as the conversation progresses, tensions rise, and the discussion devolves into a series of arguments, accusations, and personal attacks. The initially civil gathering exposes the underlying tensions and resentments within each couple's marriage.

As the night goes on, the parents' attempt to maintain their polite façade crumbles, and they reveal their true feelings towards each other and their own marital issues. The once-civilized meeting turns into a chaotic and intense battle of words and emotions, pushing the boundaries of politeness and societal norms.

Carnage explores the thin line between civility and chaos as it delves into the darkness hiding beneath societal expectations. Directed by Roman Polanski and starring Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz, and John C. Reilly, this darkly comedic film provides a thought-provoking and uncomfortable look at human nature and the fragility of modern civilization.
